Our understanding of truth defines us

We are our greatest foe in growing. When I believe that I am the truth and the only truth, and anyone who does not agree with me has no place in my life, then that is when I become my own problem. We create our own limitations- limitations on our imagination, limitations on our outlook, limitations on our acceptance. We decide things outside our spectrum of truth cannot be a truth at all. We build a barrier around out truth. We hold that truth inside limiting its growth. Any change to what we believed as truth is perceived as a threat to our personality which we held dear until now. How do we overcome this? How can we look at world from outside our limitations? The secret is not to be the believer, but NOT to be the non-believer. Being a non-believer is a limitation. We stop ourselves short of that small bit of growth that could have opened the doors to many possibilities. A non-believer gives no room for a different truth; and it is always that different truth that gives us our growth. A different truth may not be an entire change in our truth, but a modification, sometimes an addition to what we have. Without this addition or modification how limited is our purpose. Every day we live is an experience, good and bad. We absorb both and we learn and grow with these experiences. Our understanding of these experiences defines us. Remember that it is not the experience that defines us, but our understanding of it, our perception of it. When we start editing the understanding with the barrier we created to hold our truth within, before we even evaluated it, we have chipped off some of the truth that would have been added to our truth. Our understanding of the experience is already prejudicial in that case. We should remind ourselves that each and every moment is a moment of growth. We create that growth through our understanding of what happens to us and those around us. This understanding is what will guide us to expand ourselves beyond the walls that we created around our truth.
